New User Accounts

Logging in for the first time

• The school uses 2 different systems for handling login.
  • A Microsoft login which allows logging into school Windows computers and the school WiFi.
  • A Google login which allows logging into Chromebooks and Google services like Gmail and Google Classroom.
• See below for naming conventions for usernames for Staff and Students.
• Users should log into both accounts following the instructions below, using the provided initial password for each and they will be asked to choose a new password during the first login.

Google Account

• Staff and Students can go to gmail.com to log in.
• Enter the email address following the Staff or Student naming convention below.
• Enter the initial password and then choose a new password when prompted.
• Staff members will have an additional step of enabling 2-Step Verification. Instructions are provided here.

Microsoft Account

• Staff and students can log into a Berman computer using the username portion of their email address (everything before @mjbha.org)
  • Enter the initial password and choose a new password when prompted.
• Many students may not have access to a school computer to log into. As an alternative, they can go to office.com and click Sign In.
  • Enter the email address following the Staff or Student naming convention below.
  • Enter the initial password and then choose a new password when prompted.

Staff Accounts

• Usernames for Staff accounts follow the format of <lastNameFirstInitial>@mjbha.org.
• For example, a staff member named John Smith would be given the username smithj@mjbha.org
• Occasionally, there will be two staff members with the same last name and first initial. In these cases, the newer staff member will get the username of lastNameFirstTwoLetters (smithjo@mjbha.org)

Student Accounts

• Usernames for Students follow the format of firstName.lastName@mjbha.org.
• For example, a student named John Smith would get the username john.smith@mjbha.org
