Staff laptops should automatically receive printer connections from the server. You can print to these printers when you are in the building and connected to the Berman-Staff network.

Several factors could cause you to see one of the following problems:

  • No printers are listed
  • Printers are listed, but when printing you are asked to update the driver and you don't have administrator access
  • You print a document and hundreds of pages of garbled text come out

Fix the errors above with this procedure

This must be done when you are in school and connected to the Staff wifi
  1. Click on the Start menu (or press the Windows key on your keyboard)
  2. Type cmd and press Enter to open the command prompt
  3. At the prompt, type gpupdate/force and press Enter
  4. After you get the message that policies were updated successfully, restart your computer

The printer I want is not listed

By default, a specific set of printers is pushed out to all Staff laptops. If there are printers that you need, but did not get pushed, they can be added manually with these steps:

  1. Open the File Explorer by clicking on the yellow folder icon on your taskbar
  2. In the address bar, type \\hb5 and press Enter
  3. Double-click on the printer you need and it will install
