Mirroring your laptop display with the projector
Home > Docking Station > Mirroring your laptop display with the projector
This article assumes you have a basic understanding of setting up multiple displays. If you have trouble following it, please have a look at Setting up multiple displays in your classroom.
- Right click on your desktop and select Display Settings
- Determine which display is the projector. You can click on the Identify button if you are unsure.
- Click on display 1 and then scroll down to the Multiple displays section.
- Click on the dropdown menu and choose Duplicate desktop on 1 and 3 (or whichever display is your projector)
At this point, the displays should be mirrored, but it's likely that the display on the projector looks blurry. It is best to choose the best resolution for the projector and the laptop screen will show the display in the center with black bars at the sides of the screen.
- With the "1|3" display selected, scroll to the Display resolution section and select 1280x1024.
- Don't forget to select Keep Changes.
You might be wondering why the laptop screen has black bars at the sides. The laptop screen is a wide rectangle, and most of the projectors are set up to be almost square. You want to have the best display experience for your students, so choosing a square resolution is best. Since the laptop is a rectangle, it will fill the height of the display and the sides will remain blank.
